The Stations of the Cross, also known as The Way of the Cross, are an act of devotion dating back to early Christianity, following the path of Jesus from his trial in front of Pilate to his burial in the tomb. Along the way, reflections and prayers are offered at key points in the story, focusing on the different aspects of Christ’s suffering, and asking us to mourn our sins. While the Stations can be prayed at any time, they are particularly appropriate for Lent.
See our Mass schedule for viewing times.
What is a “Spiritual Communion”?
During the time Fr. Slawek is preparing to distribute Communion to our congregation,
the lector will read the Prayer of Spiritual Communion.
The Eucharistic Liturgy is the summit of the church’s worship. It is a sacramental communion with God the Father through the Son Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. For Catholics watching our livestream, who are unable to be physically present in church to receive the sacrament, there is a Spiritual Communion in and with Jesus Christ.
We should prepare for a spiritual communion in the same way we prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. We should mentally collect our thoughts and prepare our hearts as best we can. Anytime Catholics are unable to receive the Eucharist, they can make an act of Spiritual Communion.
All are invited and welcome to join us for a discussion style Bible Study Group on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. in Bishop Campbell Hall.
We will read and discuss the upcoming Sunday Gospel. When we open God’s word,
He has a message for us!
Join us each Friday evening, at 7pm, during Lent to follow Jesus on His way to the cross.
The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as we move from station to station. At each station, we recall and meditate on a specific event from Christ's last day. Specific prayers are recited, then we move to the next station until all 14 are complete.
