What is a “Spiritual Communion”?
During the time Fr. Slawek is preparing to distribute Communion to our congregation,
the lector will read the Prayer of Spiritual Communion.
The Eucharistic Liturgy is the summit of the church’s worship. It is a sacramental communion with God the Father through the Son Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. For Catholics watching our livestream, who are unable to be physically present in church to receive the sacrament, there is a Spiritual Communion in and with Jesus Christ.
We should prepare for a spiritual communion in the same way we prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. We should mentally collect our thoughts and prepare our hearts as best we can. Anytime Catholics are unable to receive the Eucharist, they can make an act of Spiritual Communion.
All are invited and welcome to join us for a discussion style Bible Study Group on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. in Bishop Campbell Hall.
We will read and discuss the upcoming Sunday Gospel. When we open God’s word,
He has a message for us!
On the first Saturday of Advent, December 7th
we will celebrate a traditional Rorate Caeli Mass at 6:30a.m.
A Rorate Caeli Mass is celebrated just before dawn in Advent as a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Mass is only lit by candles, representing Mary’s role in bringing the Light of the World into the darkness of the world.
Mass begins in darkness before sunrise, with only candles lighting the church to remind us of a world in darkness and sin that is anticipating the coming of the “Light of the World.” As Mass progresses, the church becomes brighter until the risen sun fills it with the light of day. As a votive Mass for the Blessed Mother, white vestments are worn instead of the violet normally used during Advent. The Mass readings and prayers highlight the prophecies of the coming of Christ and Mary’s role in bringing the Light into the world.
Please join us for this special Mass! Breakfast will be served in the Church Hall after Mass.
This year the Solemnity is a Holy Day of Obligation. Our Masses will be at 8:30am (with the school students) and at 7pm.
Join us at 6:30pm for a Rosary Procession and then Mass at 7pm in Spanish.
Join us at for our Advent Parish Penance Service on December 17th at 7pm - All are welcome to experience the love and mercy of Christ through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This service of confession, reconciliation, and penance is to make us ready in mind, heart, and soul for the birth of Christ, which we will soon celebrate in the Mass at Christmas. Multiple priests will be available for confession.
All are welcome, please join us!
