Join us for Advent and Christmas Celebrations at
St. Mary Magdalene Church
December 8, 8:15am and 7:00pm – Mass: The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
December 10, 7:00pm – Parish Penance Service
As we prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas, we want to be ready to accept his love and be able to do whatever he asks of us. All are welcome to experience the love and mercy of Christ through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
December 12, 8:00am – Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
In 1531, the Blessed Mother appeared four times to St. Juan Diego asking for a church to be built in her honor. The last time she appeared to St. Juan, on December 12th, 1531, she arranged roses in his tilma, which he then took to the bishop. When he opened his cloak, the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously present on the tilma.
Celebrate this special feast by joining in the singing of Mañanitas, Blessing and Dedication of our new Icon, followed by Mass at 8:30 a.m.
December 16-23, 7:00pm - Las Posadas: A Mexican Christmas Tradition
The story of Christ’s birth has been told and retold so many times it could have lost its luster generations ago. But it hasn’t—not even close. If anything, in this world of war, famine and natural disasters, holding on to something as simple and as singularly important as the Nativity story is a necessity to our faith. And perhaps nowhere on earth is the Nativity story told with more flourish and faith-based exuberance than in the annual celebration of Las Posadas.
Each evening will begin with Mass at 7pm, followed by a festive celebration.

What is a “Spiritual Communion”?
During the time when the priest is preparing to distribute Communion to our congregation,
the lector will read the Prayer of Spiritual Communion.
The Eucharistic Liturgy is the summit of the church’s worship. It is a sacramental communion with God the Father through the Son Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. For Catholics watching our livestream, who are unable to be physically present in church to receive the sacrament, there is a Spiritual Communion in and with Jesus Christ.
We should prepare for a spiritual communion in the same way we prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. We should mentally collect our thoughts and prepare our hearts as best we can. Anytime Catholics are unable to receive the Eucharist, they can make an act of Spiritual Communion.

Rorate Mass - Saturday, December 6th - 6:30am
The Mass is celebrated just before dawn in Advent as a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Mass is only lit by candles, representing Mary’s role in bringing the Light of the World into the darkness of the world. We begin in darkness before sunrise, with only candles lighting the church to remind us of a world in darkness and sin that is anticipating the coming of the “Light of the World.” As Mass progresses, the church becomes brighter until the risen sun fills it with the light of day. The Mass readings and prayers highlight the prophecies of the coming of Christ and Mary’s role in bringing the Light into the world.
Please join us for this special celebration!
A light breakfast will be served in the Church Hall following the Mass.
